{"id":13370,"date":"2021-07-23T13:11:11","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T18:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.choiceroofcontractors.com\/?p=13370"},"modified":"2022-06-14T14:09:32","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T19:09:32","slug":"what-are-commercial-clients-looking-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.choiceroofcontractors.com\/what-are-commercial-clients-looking-for\/","title":{"rendered":"What Are Commercial Clients Looking For?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.choiceroofcontractors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/AdobeStock_124854828.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13371 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.choiceroofcontractors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/AdobeStock_124854828.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-id=\"13371\" \/><\/a>Every growing commercial roofing contractor wants to know the answer to this very important question.\u00a0 Figure out what those clients are looking for and your business is unstoppable!\u00a0 Unfortunately, figuring that out, and then meeting that need, seems to be where many of roofing businesses fail.<\/p>\n<h2>The Top 5 List<\/h2>\n<p>Commercial building owners have a focus that is completely different than a residential homeowner.\u00a0 They are business-people, first and foremost.\u00a0 To get their attention, get their jobs, and keep them as ongoing clients, you must direct your marketing and your conversations toward that focus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Value<\/strong>.\u00a0 Homeowners tend to worry about budget and cost.\u00a0 A business owner, however, is more focused on the overall <u>value<\/u>.\u00a0 They are much less concerned about the size of the initial investment if you can show them how it will outperform, outlast or in some other way be more beneficial <u>over time.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>When making your proposal, show the cost\/benefit analysis for the various solutions you may be suggesting.\u00a0 If you\u2019re suggesting a coating or single-ply option, include information on potential cost savings on labor installation, cost savings on utility bills as a result of lower cooling costs and, where appropriate, information on potential tax credits.\u00a0 All of these add value to the installation and makes the decision-process easier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow through.<\/strong>\u00a0 As a business owner, which would you prefer to work with\u2026 the person that promises the moon, but fails to deliver; or the person, even if more expensive, that always gives you everything they promised?\u00a0 Now, which kind of roofing contractor are you?<\/p>\n<p>Commercial business owners are keenly aware of companies that fail to deliver on their promises.\u00a0 Though you may be able to get that initial job, you will quickly find others getting future jobs from your clients if you are failing to follow through on your work or job quality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organization<\/strong>.\u00a0 Your potential client is running a business.\u00a0 They don\u2019t want to have to be involved in running yours as well.\u00a0 The contractor that is well organized, able to set up independently and complete the job without interrupting the business owner unnecessarily is one that is a winner in that customer\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n<p>The secret to this is organization.\u00a0 Your company and your crew need to be well organized, with clear procedures and processes in place to do the job without input from anyone else.\u00a0 Make certain you have addressed all questions you or your customer may have, up front, before the job starts.\u00a0 This type of organization shines out from the crowd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clean up.<\/strong>\u00a0 Seems like a trivial matter, but this is their business we are talking about.\u00a0 Ensure that the entire area around the site is kept clear of debris on a regular basis, and that after completion clean-up is thorough.<\/p>\n<p>Paying attention to this level of detail reinforces your professionalism and underlines the level of respect you are showing to that commercial building owner and his\/her tenants.\u00a0 Though it may never be said, failure to do these things will definitely be noted and will weight heavily against any further, future projects they may have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communication.<\/strong>\u00a0 The commercial business owner or property manager has a lot going on.\u00a0 Clear communication, whether in the form of an email, phone call or text, goes a long way.<\/p>\n<p>Materials didn\u2019t arrive on time?\u00a0 They\u2019ve been there.\u00a0 Send an email, detailing that the shipment is expected on XYZ date.
